For Closure!
By Hannah Benitez
Partners Raven (Renata Eastlick) and Amanda (Sara DelBeato) are trying to keep the family real estate agency afloat in trying times. When a nefarious local politician threatens to bring even more disruption to their lives, they must join forces with the enigmatic psychic, Camille Chevalier Milk (played by Tampa Bay favorite Matthew McGee) to expose the true nature of this threat to the town before it’s too late. With the help of a wild cast of Florida characters including a handyman, a rapper, an oligarch’s mistress, a bird lady and an exotic dancer, they just might pull it off.
This contemporary farce set in the small Florida coastal town of Gulfpalm is a hilarious and satirical look at the foibles and hypocrisies of modern life.
This production contains adult themes and language. Audience discretion is advised.

freeFall at the Movies: The Birdcage (1996)
Hosted by Matthew McGee
In this remake of the classic French farce La Cage aux Folles, engaged couple Val Goldman (Dan Futterman) and Barbara Keeley (Calista Flockhart) shakily introduce Val’s potential ultra-conservative in-laws to his two fabulous dads in the hilarious film, The Birdcage. Val’s father, Armand (Robin Williams), a gay Miami drag club owner, pretends to be straight and attempts to hide his relationship with Albert (Nathan Lane), his life partner and the club’s flamboyant star attraction, so as to please Barbara’s father, Republican Sen. Kevin Keeley (Gene Hackman). 1996’s The Birdcage is a riotous and heart-warming comedy that proves family isn’t just a word, it’s a whole sentence.
See The Birdcage and get an inside look at the inspiration behind Hannah Benitez’s new play For Closure! playing at freeFall April 11 through May 11, 2024. The Birdcage is rated R and runs 1 hour and 59 minutes.

freeFall at the Movies: Mommie Dearest
Hosted by Matthew McGee
No wire hangers ever! In this biographical film, glamorous yet lonely star Joan Crawford (Faye Dunaway) takes in two orphans, and at first their unconventional family seems happy. But after Joan’s attempts at romantic fulfillment go sour and she is fired from her contract with MGM studios, her callous and abusive behavior towards her daughter Christina becomes even more pronounced. Christina leaves home and takes her first acting role, only to find her mother’s presence still overshadowing her. Mommie Dearest is an unintentional camp classic and a perfect piece of Pride programming. This presentation will include audience participation and live commentary by self-proclaimed Mommie Dearest superfan, Matthew McGee
Mommie Dearest is rated PG and runs 2 hours and 9 minutes.
